Identify the feature and its controls
Determine whether the property has a pond, fountain or pondless system, and request accessible equipment details and operating instructions. Ask how often it is used and whether any component has been intentionally disconnected. Keep login details out of ordinary inquiry forms.
Ask what the property inspection includes
A general inspection may not include leak detection or a complete water-feature assessment. Describe any concern to an appropriate specialist and agree on the inspection scope, operating conditions and report before booking. A visual check cannot verify every concealed connection.
Clarify the ongoing commitment
Request maintenance records and information about repairs, water loss and fish if present. Discuss access, cleaning needs and equipment care with a provider who works on that kind of system. Do not treat a seller’s informal cost estimate as a guaranteed annual maintenance budget.
Keep repairs separate from upgrades
Use the findings to distinguish defects from changes you would simply prefer. Ask for separate scopes and clarify what can be assessed before ownership transfers. Keep records so the next provider understands what was inspected and what remains uncertain.
Discuss your water feature
Share your location, feature type and the problem. Confirm the assessment, price and availability with the provider.
